Do goldfish sleep?
It is a common question because when you watch your goldfish you won't see it shut it's eyes. So it appears that they do not sleep.
It is a great question because the answer is both No and Yes.
No....they do NOT ever close their eyes....they actually physically can't close their eyes.
but, YES....they do sleep....they sink to a low position in the water and do not move. They do this several times per day.
FUNFACT: While sleeping they often turn a paler color so that they are harder for predators to see.
